Meta has started introducing an AI-driven voice translation feature on Facebook and Instagram, making it available to creators around the globe. The feature enables creators to automatically translate their spoken content into other languages while preserving the tone and style of their own voice. This makes the dubbed result sound more authentic. An optional lip-sync function aligns the translated audio with creators’ lip movements, adding a more natural effect.

At launch, translations are available between English and Spanish, with additional languages planned. Eligible users include Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram creators in regions where Meta AI is available.

Before publishing a reel, creators can activate the option through the “Translate your voice with Meta AI” button and review the result. They can then choose whether to include lip-syncing. Translations can be disabled at any time without affecting the original video.

Viewers of translated reels are notified that Meta AI was used. Users who do not wish to view translated content can disable the feature in their settings. To help creators evaluate performance, Meta has introduced a new metric in Insights that shows views by language. This allows creators to gain clearer insights into how their content reaches audiences across different languages.

The company recommends facing the camera directly, speaking clearly, avoiding covering the mouth, and minimizing background noise for best results. The system supports up to two speakers, provided their speech does not overlap.

Meta confirmed that more languages will be added over time, but it has not specified which ones or when. The feature is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance its AI portfolio. Meta is reorganizing its AI division to concentrate on research, superintelligence, product development, and infrastructure.
